      The mile (one-way) Boundary Creek Trail begins at Bechler Ranger Station and ends at Yellowstone’s west boundary west of Buffalo Lake. The only way we can keep the Canadian Rockies Trail Guide up-to-date for long, remote backpacks, like the South Boundary, is through updates from our readers. Jim Shipley is one of those contributors. Every summer, Jim and his buddies complete a long backpack in the Mountain Parks.

This year they chose Jasper’s remote South Boundary Trail. Boundary Country is a hitchhiker's guide to the quirks and foibles of those who live in British Columbia's distinctive Kootenay mountain region. The stories capture those precise moments where history becomes memory, desire transforms into belief, and where some locale or condition alters and we name it a boundary.

About the South Boundary Trail. The “IMBA EPIC” South Boundary Trail begins at the trailhead on Forest Road (FR) 76 just south and west of Angel Fire about 25 minutes at 9,ft and ends at the El Nogal Parking Lot Area on US High five minutes east of Taos at a little over 7,ft.

Rogier recommends that “only extremely experienced and determined hikers should attempt this section of the trail.” And we recommend that backpackers bound for the South Boundary country skip this section and use Rocky Pass instead (see trail # in the Canadian Rockies Trail Guide).

South Boundary Trail – mi / km. The South Boundary Trail used to run the entire length of the southern edge of Glacier along the Middle Fork Flathead River from the West Entrance to the Walton Ranger Station.

Lack of use and soil erosion have shortened this trail so that now it only runs from the West Entrance to Coal Creek. Travel Guide. Boundary Lake. This is a remote and claustrophobic place to holiday or live.

The trail spans the width of the Pasayten Wilderness and is part of the much larger Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail. The combination of stunning scenery and lack of crowds is one of the BT’s most enticing aspects especially in autumn, when colors are changing, temperatures are cooling and bugs are gone.

South Boundary Trail Part II It involved absolutely everything as far as the weather and trail conditions were concerned. The "trail" is poorly maintained and if it wasn't for horse outfitters using it sporadically, it would quickly, in my mind, disappear. ATVing is a fun way to explore the Boundary area.
